I am inclined to say either Beethoven's 9th Symphony or Wagner's Ring Des Nibelungen.

Hi. That is a hard question. My two favorites are Verdi's Aida and Puccini's Madama Butterfly.

Of all time probably the Beethoven's 9th symphony(it is the world) but of the 20th century its The Rite of Spring(music now would not be the same without it)

Yup, Wagner's Ring is probably the most extensive and the deepest one considering the themes it discusses. You either hate it or love it, and if you happen to love it then you may easily find it to be the greatest :-)

I think it's March Caprice for Piano and Orchestra by Yoko Shimomura in the videogame Kingdom Hearts II. It's soothing and when I listen to it I feel like I'm being sucked into a world of tranquilty.

Some music critics would say the Mass in B Minor by Bach, but I think his St Matthew Passion surpasses it in greatness.

Cage- "4:33"

JUST KIDDING

i'd say Beethoven's 9th is probably the most celebrated work, but it's personal choice which one you think is the best. I love Rite of Spring, by Stravinsky, the best myself.

If any of Rachmaninoff's choral works, when performed by a proper Russian choir, don't provide you with a most engrossing experience, your soul is void of all musical understanding.
