I always order my salad dressing on the side, so I can give it a little taste test before deciding if I want it on my salad or not and that also determins how much or little I use... If I dont care for the taste then I can still enjoy my salad dressing free...

sometimes when I order a salad it is drowning in dressing. I don't like to have so much on there, I think it taste's too strong and makes it too runny like coleslaw (Which I hate!)

So I order it on the side, plus if you are counting calories then you can dip your fork in your dressing and then get your salad on your fork, and you get the flavor without a lot of the calories.

some people dont appreciate a salad swimming in dressing; why eat a salad if you are gonna eat a pint of dressing on it, when you could just eat a cheeseburger for the same calories plus protein?

I'm a dressing whore, the more the better!...depending on the place and what they will serve it in, I will order it on the side so I will get more dressing than I would if they applied it themselves. Marie Calendars is an example if that.

It's a control issue. Think about it: You want to control just HOW much dressing goes on your salad--not leave that up to the chef to decide for you.......

to see the quality of the veggies before I eat them. Also, I like to put a little on, eat then add more so that its not just sitting on top and I have dry salad after the top layer.

It's a good diet tip to follow when reducing calories. Hopefully they will put on less dressing than the chef would have.

I do it because sometimes resturants put way too much on the salads or way too little. If the place has breadsticks I like to dip them into my ranch too.
