You know what we have 6 gold fish and they can actually become quite loyal I know it must sound strange but yes, our gold fish which are quite large now will come to the top of the tank and allow us to "pet" them, they follow us around the room from side to side in their tank. When we clean their 55 gallon tank they actually swim into our hands to take them out. We also have a rabbit that is litter trained and loves to play!! HE will chase a ball around the house like a little puppy, he jumps up on the couch and will "cuddle" with us. Both are great if you spend enough time with them, almost any creature can be loyal and playful if you just show them interest!! Good Luck and I hope this helps!!!

I had a parakeet once that loved to fly on my shoulder and give kisses on the cheek. I would leave his cage door open, and if he wanted my attention this is what he would do. I now have a Cockatiel that I love. I have taught it to whistle, & talk. These kinds of birds believe it or not, are really smart animals to have and yes, they are alot of company. Also, Ferets are playful and friendly. But you have to keep their cages clean everyday, or they smell.

Ducks, Geese and Chickens have a lot of personality and can be very tame and interactive with people. You need to buy them as babies and give them a lot of attention. Of course you need to provide proper food and shelter from predators, including dogs.
Some people even keep them indoors as diapered pets. Check out http://www.thegoosesmother.com
Some species seem to be more willing to be handled then others. For chickens I suggest the banty silkie breed. They are very docile and their feathers are unique, they feel like a cat!
Check out the various pet poultry yahoo groups.

I have a pet duck, and he has turned out to be quite the amazing pet. We bought him when he was 2 weeks old and due to having him during his infancy he has total loyalty towards us. We can take walks outside and he will follow behind us, like a baby duck following its mommy duck. They are very easy to take care of, and really have little odor. They aren't mean and are very cheap to raise. I highly recommend this for your pet.

You know, I always thought poodles were really mean. But recently, (through experience) I've learned that poodles are only mean to you when you're mean to them. Give a toy poodle a shot. (I mean the kind of poodle that is really small. Not like a wind-up toy. A real dog.)

A Skunk makes a real good pet if you can find a Vet that will de-scent one for you. They are just like a cat but more loyal.
