If you read my profile you'll see that I'm a Marine, 1 yr. left till college graduation, and I deliver pizza's.
Last week I just got done delivering a pizza then went to the gas station next to the hotel to put fuel into my vehicle. While I was finishing pumping my fuel a guy came out of a dark area and started approaching this lady. I looked at her and she made eye contact with me in a nervous kind of way. I then saw her daughter in the back seat of her car and the guy walking to her saw me analyzing the situation. So he turns and comes towards me. He is sweating and asked me, “man, can I please have a ride I’m not from around here and my car is broken down on the interstate, I need to go to a hotel”. So I looked at that lady again and I thought to myself… if I say no he is going to bother her or he might do something wild so I told the guy to lift up his shirt and do a 360 turn around so I know he does not have a gun, and he does. So I told him to get in the car… while in the car I asked him what hotel he wanted to go to and he said, “travel lodge it’s just down the street 4 blocks” and I thought to myself if he is not from here then how does he know his way around… so I kept shut and kept driving thinking if he pulled anything I’ll drive into a light pole (obviously his side). Well he kept talking in sentences that didn’t make sense then he said, “I wrecked my car but the cops let me go my car is on the interstate” then out of nowhere he said, “you know I wanted to be a Marine like you but they denied me 2 times because I’m a CLASS A Felon” then he started laughing and saying, “don’t get nervous please”. I pulled into the hotel and he got out… then I went to the police and reported him.

Chill out. The guy assessed the situation, knew that between you and the lady, you'd be the least stressed out by giving him a ride, and that's why he approached you.
My rule of thumb is if they tell you they're a class A felon, then they aren't going to try anything. It's the little old ladies who insist that they aren't felons that you have to watch out for.
By the way, after WWII a lot of GIs got around the country by hitchhiking. I did some hitchhiking in the 80s and would occasionally get a ride from a vet who was "returning the favor" by giving somebody a ride. So, in that spirit, you did a good turn. Thanks!

Wow, that's quite a story. Obviously once a Marine, always a Marine. You probably did save that woman from some real trouble.
Good thing for her you can analyze a situation quickly. Good thing for you he knew you were a Marine and decided not to mess with you!
Be careful out there. Thanks for being a hero.

That is pretty scary. My girlfriend and I picked up a guy once in the mountains of Oregon at 2:30am. He sat in the back seat, and said that he was walking home from the hospital. The nearest town was 30 miles away, and his house was 20 miles ahead. I dropped him off on the exit ramp of his town. It was stupid

Sounds like you actually saved a woman and child from maybe being attacked, you did a brave thing considering the outcome might have had dire consequences for you.
Don't have to have gun, needle just as lethal these days, take it as a lucky escape....cheers â¥

He must have known you were a marine from something you did or had in your car (like checking for a gun, etc). Dude, you are one lucky guy, good job getting out that extremely odd situation.

***YES YOU REALLY DID TAKE A MAJOR TISK THERE. EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN'T AHVE A GUN IN PLAIN VIEW DOESNT MEAN HE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN HIDING IT IN HIS PANTS. AA SAD AS IT IS, YOU JUST CAN'T TAKE ANYTHING AT FACE VALUE ANYYMORE, BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN LIE TO YOU AND BE VERY CONVINCING ABOUT IT. JUST BE CAREFUL AND MORE STREET SMART.***
