Marriage is a great thing however you both need to be committed to it. For example: Are you willing to stand at the alter and swear a vow of marriage to God, the ultimate power in the entire universe? Let me remind you, in sickness and in health, richer or poorer etc. The rammifications of what will happen should either of you decide a few years later to split are beyond your comprehension. You don't want to make Him angry with you do you?
All too often the vows of marriage are taken so lightly it's a farce. God on the other hand doesn't take these vows lightly. Think about it, can you really stand at the alter and truthfully commit the rest of your life to this person?

Depends on how old you are and if you are ready to take the big step. Because once you do your vows, you are totally committed with that one person. So make sure your ready for that biggest step ever.

It's not a matter of smartness, it's whether it is mandatory for you to be married (in terms of culture/religion) and whether or not you're prepared to commit yourself to this relationship.
