You need to have a more definitive question. What exactly are you looking for about the 1866 congressional elections?

The 1866 elections gave an avalanche of Congressmen and Senators to the Republican Party which then pushed through a much harsher reconstruction than planned by either Abraham Lincoln or Andrew Johnson, ensuring the passage of several amendments which guaranteed political equality for all persons and abolishing slavery forever in the United States.

Of course, over the ensuing years the politicians again took over and because of moral cowardice, corruption and racism, they refused to enforce the equality that so many people had paid the ulitmate sacrifice to achieve.
