I named my cat Oliver, you know from the movie Oliver and company. He was homeless and wandering around the streets, I found him after I was going to go home from church. He came up to me and starting meowing so I decided to take him home. You get now why I named him that.

Well I sure wish I could give U a great answer on this one here. I had a parakeet that was green and my children gave me the budgie as a gift so I named the budgie "Packy".
yes after the Green Bay packers, lol.
I currently am owned by a male orange tabby named Sandy,I wish I could say I named him but I got him with that name. He at times should be called "Morris" or even Garfield...he is also affectionately called "Sandy Bear" he's a real love bug.
He's sister is Grey Girl a gray tabby and lots of fun and love too. Our other cat is named "Oreo" my teen loves her we got her at a garage sale and when I came home with her my teen snapped at me an said ,"I wanted a DOG" well Oreo took issue with her and snarled and glared at her too and hissed a bit too. That was last summer now those two are inseparable lol.
Great question I hope I answered it OK :D

My Beagle mix is named Blue.. I got him when he was 5 (just over a year ago).. his name was Lou.. his name didn't fit his personality.. and so when I first heard his bay I started calling him Blue.. (like the sound the hounds make in Mary Poppens during the fox hunt scene.. blue halloo) and blue being so close to "lou" he didn't really notice.
I've always picked names that had something to do with the pet itself.. I had a rat named Nickodemis because when I first got him he made a weird head movement that reminded me of the character from The Secret of Nimh, I had a collie/husky/wolf mix named Camille because she reminded me of the dog Camille in Turner and Hooch.. (that sort of dainty collie attitude).. I've used names from mythology, books, movies, music, and some random names that pop into my head.. all depends.

My cat, Marilyn, had crazy purple and blue eyes for about a week when she was a kitten. My boyfriend compared her weird eyes to Marilyn Manson's and I remarked that she was pretty and liked to pose for the camera, like Marilyn Monroe. And so she was Marilyn.
My other cat, Cy, was named for a character in a book.
I also have a Florida Blue Garter Snake named Osceola. For her, I basically opened the atlas to FL and picked a pretty name.

I have a cat named Socks, who is all black and white (looks like Sylvester) as well as she looks like she is wearing white socks. I have another cat named Beth Annie Marie. We found her at a church called Bethany United Methodist. I have another cat named Callie, she is a calico. Lastly I have a kitty named Princess, who owns the house I live in and had a ruffle of fur under her neck like an old English Queen and a poofy tail to boot.

My dog's name is Zelda, a MinPin (Miniature Pinscher). My fiance named her after the game Zelda because he is a big game freak and said it sounded better than Zoe (what I was going to name her). It fits her well. She is sweet yet spunky and fierce all at the same time. She has such a live life to the fullest attitude!

I got a cockapoo dog, he's 11, and his name is Frenchy. My mom picked his name, because when she was little, her family had a cockapoo named Frenchy. His full name is Mr. Jiles French. It's from an old-time TV show. But we call him Frenchy for short.
