Nope, in order to get the 802.11n benefits you need all wireless N products.

Yes most wireless n routers are backwards compatible to connect to older wireless g devices. You will not see the benefits of the wireless n as the wireless g network card would limit you to the g technology. Unless however you can upgrade the firmware of the wireless adapter, which is highly unlikely. Up to you on what you feel you would want to do. The wireless n is likely more expensive that the g. But should you want to upgrade your wireless g network card in your computer in the future then buying the n router (of course checking for backwards compatible) likely would be the better choice.

To get the benefit of wireless n you must have both router and nic that support this technology. They also must be from the same manufacturer. You don't really need wireless n anyway since the benefit is only when you transfer files between pcs on your network, but they also must have the n adpater too. As far as internet speed it will be the same because your speed is limited by your ISP. Wireless g speed is 54Mbps and that's a lot more than your internet connection ( usually between 1 Mbps to 15 Mbps).
