Pretty much since he left the Mariners. The Rangers overpaid for him, and although he won the MVP with them, they pretty much were the mediocre team they are today. The Yankees pay him huge bucks, he puts up big numbers, but the only Yankees with Yankees World Series rings are Jeter, Posada, Pettite and Rivera (soon to be Clemens). Is that all A-Rod's fault? of course not. No one player, not A-Rod, not Clemens, can turn around a team's fortunes singlehandedly (OK, Guerrero for the Angels in 2004 and Ortiz for the Red Sox in 2004 sure came close). Because of what he makes and where he plays, he is going to have to be superman if he does not want to be viewed for all his faults. He does not make that much more than Jeter, but Jeter has a lot more teflon from the New York press.

Why is everyone so hard on A-Rod. He is an excellent player and just because someone is dumb enough to overpay him and gets eveyone's hopes set too high, isn't a reason to blast this guy all the time. A-Rod, if you're reading this, we'll take you in Boston for a "slight" pay cut and we'll even let you play shortstop again......

zenithomega i get the feeling your a sox didn't see things go your way tonight. That's nothing to cry about though. My team is about14 games out. Don't see me crying. cheer up you only have 79 years more to your next championship.

he is an overrated (and overpaid) player....
(PS: Just because he helped to win a game DOESN'T mean he will help turn around the Yankee's poor season record...he has got to win much much more --- and change his attitude from being a douchebag to a mature ball player)
