I have it tommorow and i really don't want to go. I've just had it in the back of my mind for like a month and didn't send in the paper or anything. Can i really get in trouble for it or is it unlikely??

By all rights they will put out a warrant for your arrest if you do not call someone and get it straightened out. You should call them first thing when they open in the morning. You have to let them know and give them proof if there is some reason you can not serve jury duty.

Not a good idea to skip Jury Duty. They could put a warrant out for your arrest if you dont show. Its your civic duty to show up for Jury Duty. This doesnt mean you will be selected for to be on the Jury but you would be one of many people that they would select from. Odds are you wont get selected...especially if you know the person or any details of the crime or person on trial. :)

It depends on what a stickler the judge is. They've been known to issue bench warrants for people who don't show. At the least, they'll probably set you up for another stint. If I were you, I'd just appear. I did it last year, and it was actually an interesting and eye-opening experience.

Depending what state you live in, you will get a contempt of court violation and go to jail for 30 days,or given a really big fine, OR have a REALLY good reason for not showing up! Otherwise GO!

In my county, the judge will issue a bench warrant.
The Sheriff's Department will pick you up & they wll process you, take you before the judge & he fine you. It looks bad on your record plus the Deputy is mad he had to waste him time.
The only time I saw someone before the Judge - he was ticked & yelled at him.

Some areas may ignore it but have you heard of civic duty?
Plus if you are selfish - do you want to chance a night in jail to skip jury duty.

A warrant can be issued for your arrest. If I were you, I think I'd show up. Look at the bright side, you could make 6 or 8 bucks!
