So you figured incorrectly.

It is winter now. Winter starts in June, ends last day of August.

At the moment, the temperature is struggling to hit 15 deg celcius, so it is a little brisk. Nights are around 6 deg celcius.
When winter is at it's peak, we will have highs of 12 deg celcius and lows of 0 deg celcius.

Summer is December, January, Feburary. Melbourne can have lovely sunny days, and then there are the scorchers. Last summer, some days got up over 40 deg celcius.

Yes there are beach bums. Find a beach and you'll find someone who just loves to be there.

ok it can get very hot here in summer - 45deg is not uncommon, but usually in January/February especially when the tennis is on. In winter it gets cold, but not freezing. It doesnt snow here in the city, only up in the mountains which are a few hours away. Temps in winter generally are from around 5-15deg C

In summer it gets as high as 40*c and it's quite humid and stormy. Winter it's fairly cold with snow in the alpine regions. The temperature does get below 0*c at nights sometimes with fog & frost but the days get around 15*c usually and mostly sunny :D

I have been down there and it is bloody hot - think it was about 40 but i have also been there when it was freezing. The temp changes a lot in just one day. Now where you really want to go is the gold coast - thats where i live. Now that is a nice place :-)

Depends what time of year. June/July is the middle of winter. December is pretty hot. I vacationed there around April-May.. it rained the whole time.
