For my social studies class we were asked to create a board game ( OTHER THAN MONOPOLY)having to do with various economic regions of Canada. Also can include canadas trading with the usa

The game can be as difficult or complex as you can imagine ( as long as i can grasp the concept) because if i dont have time to make it my teacher is accepting game board proposals.
This should be fine as long as i have the ideas in detail.

I have come up with many ideas that have not worked out, so any of your ideas i will greatly appreciated

The problem with Monopoly is that no one really wins. You just keep playing until everyone is bored and then you count the cash.

So it is not hard to do better. Also the best way to put in various alliances in the game (like Risk...people trade blows when alliances are broken in Risk and other games with similar alliances).

Elements of a good game should be
1. Anyone can play
2. Anyone can win. Having random cards that make you go up and down makes it more interesting.
3. There is a clear winner, but anyone could win up to the last minute.

For example, you might have a game based on free trade. The board represents various cycles of the economy, with associated interest rates and return on investment.

Instead of having one path, have many paths. You can run for Prime minister, and get to choose where the economy is. People can team up to elect who they want (maybe using dice to do that as well). Cards could include various court decisions, eg, you have violated section 23 of the free trade alliance, you must fire all your employees and pay for a truck load of mexicans to smuggled up route 66.
