probably Russia or nearby countries for the fact that at one point in time they were probably able to walk from Russia to Alaska.

If one accepts the theories of Evolution one sees that proto-man was ONE Color one Uber-Race that over thousands of years evolved into four definitive races and a multitude of ethnic groups. Thus the people migrating across the Bering Strait Land bridge were most likely stocky yellow tinged brown quite hairy and had most likely been living in Siberia which as noted was part of today's Russia (2007) but quite likely there were groups/tribes that had pushed up from Mongolia, The Korean Peninsula and China.

Many scientist have evidence etc that migration by a tribe/group could be continuous like the existence of Gypsies. Spend years maybe a decade in one area with attendant births deaths events then move on spend another ten years. Scientists claim 'marker' tribes that originated in Mongolia/China and eventually ended up in Portugal before the Ocean forced them to mostly stay put (sailors will argue that and I think they are right).

Migration was a human flood and the Garden of Eden - - - perhaps Africa and Mongolia and Southeast Asia and why is a tougher question.

Peace...

There were no countries then, but they probably crossed from Siberia to Alaska.

When we speak of a "land bridge" we are not referring to a narrow strip of land. The exposed area was probably hundreds of km wide, and the crossing was probably a slow migration.

Genetic analysis suggests that the ancestors of most modern Native Americans came from Siberia, in what is now Russia.
