It is not true that everything is in equal pairs. Expressing each as a dichotomy is just a useful tool for explanation and research.

Take male and female. Books have been written, articles, plays etc. etc. etc. on how different they are. One pair of authors has made a fortune saying that we even come from different planets. However what is the true? Males and females have much more in common than different. And that which is different is, on average only 10% different. IE the average male is 10% stronger than the average female. It is only in reproduction that there is 100% difference.

The problem arises that people actually believe the hype and start to ask questions like "What do woman / men really want?” The answer is - look at your mates; if I asked the question what do they really want, the answer would be that they all want different things because they are individual.

What about concepts such as good and evil. This equates directly to god and devil. Do they really exist as opposites? Are there acts in our ordinary lives, as apposed to those filtered by fiction or myth, which can be classed as ether all good or all bad? "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so" Shakespeare. And as a therapist, I would be out of a job if people examined their lives in that light.

So in direct answer to your question. It is humans who need to paint the world in black and white tones - it is all shades of wonderful colour, and to step into the rainbow of life is liberation.

Because people often simplify complex ideas and situate them within a binary system in which one part is defined by the other. These are historicall and culturally created systems. This also leads to seeing the world in oversimplified, stable, black/white terms.

See Derrida's idea of "binary opposition."

To every action there is an equal opposite reaction. Opposites are used to balance things out, (in a chaotic way)...
Black/White, Matter/Antimatter, Positive/Negative... Those are examples of what you are looking for.

properly, I felt the two unhappy whilst my mom died and my father, although my mom's death replaced into much less of a marvel, as she have been getting gradually frailer whilst she died, while my father died at the same time as he replaced into interestingly particularly robust and not ill in any respect. it is totally interesting that they make greater fuss over a female's funeral than a guy's in that tribe, that's very unusual, i do no longer understand what the reason of that must be.

Because you can only see one side of the coin at a time. If you add up the coins, there are many more than 2.

But not everything is just two - what's the opposite of long? Short. What's the opposite of tall? Short.

Our brains naturally categorize, so when we have experiences, most people's reaction to that experience is to break it down into terms we can understand (can empathize with). So you go from a raw experience to terms like happy, sad, ball, box, etc. based on our particular filters/delineations (what you believe).
