Absolutely. Lots of students who were mediocre in high school really flourish in college. You plan your own schedule and take classes more because you like them.

If high school is/was tough, you should consider taking your first two years at a community college. Some of the reasons why?

*High School grades no longer matter. The grades you get in college are the only ones that can count.

*You don't need the SAT, ACT, etc.

*Cost - USC costs more than $5,000 per class....the very same course at a community college costs about $48 (in california) doing your first two years at a community college will save you more than $60,000

*The community college will help you focus on a college/major that suits you best. When you're ready, you are going to transfer to any college/university you want....regardless of whether or not you would be eligible when you graduate from high school....and you get the very same diploma as everyone else.

Good luck. :)

You can if you want to, but you will have to be ready to work very, very hard. I was an underachiever in high school, and I really struggled in college. NOT because I couldn't understand the material, but because I had not disciplined myself to study the material.

It took graduating college, getting into the work world, finding a passion and going BACK to graduate school, to really thrive in school. I got my Master's degree with a 3.8 GPA, and that could have been higher, if I had fostered lifelong habits of discipline when I was younger, rather than of procrastination.

But yes, you can do anything you put your mind, heart, and soul into.

I personally think that as an average high school student, one definitely can succeed in college. Just put in the passion, the love and the soul into what disclipline you are studying and I surely believe you can succeed in college.

I have encountered many friends who have average high school grades, but excel in university when they choose what are their first-loves and do well in their disclipline they choose.

In university, it is very different from high school.

One studies everything, including subjects from science to arts and to the humanities in high school.

But in university, we choose what we aspire to do and love what we are studying !! Why not, one can succeed in college.

Also, one needs ok high school grades to enter university and choose what you love.

And, SAT/ACT grades are not necessary and not that important for most faculties.

High school grades, to be OK results. It looks better on resume when finding a job. The point is choose what you love and do well in the disclipline.

Yes, just make academics your primary focus. Party later, when you're making big money after college, you'll have plenty of time for that.
