Yes. Without them we would live in chaos. It is important to do the right thing regardless of the consequences.

The rain shall fall on the just and the un-just.

This is a question that has plagued humanity forever. In biblical times the pious often wondered why pagan kingdoms such as Rome, Babylon, Persia etc flourished while Israel was constantly diminished. From this grew the philosophy that the reward of a moral life was not in this life but the next.
So if a business person was successful due to unethical practices we draw comfort from the fact that the will pay the price in the next life. This is a common thread through many world religions, the notion of karma for example. However you can also make the argument that the question is a is starting from a biased perspective that what is good and successful in life are material goods. Which would seem to violate the truism that money can't buy happiness. To me the person who lived the moral life and lives within their means and finds joy in life's subtler mysteries will have a greater sense of peace and security which to me is more successful.

Friend.

Really a good question.

In the present world we are in, we look around and see that there are so many people who are highly successful and have amassed money, power, and are in a commanding position .But their path to to that point is not always , in majority cases, through honesty and morality.Of course, I can go to the extent of saying that a moral man ,an honest man is facing all the troubles to succeed.

Those who, in immoral and dishonest way come to a high position , bypassing all the meritorious and honest ones, no doubt they are in a high position, but are they really happy there?are they felling secure there? In Most cases we have to say'' NO''.

The success achieved through honesty and morality gives one inner happiness and increases his responsibility. He is not afraid to be there because he deserves the success. He is confident and secure. He will try to do some thing to the common man.

The other persons , who acquired success in an immoral and dishonest way , approach , frequently the so called Godmen and temples ..and make large contributions to the Deity there....probably an atonement. But they have no good sleep and happiness..they are almost self centred and there is nothing we can expect from them for the good of society.

Anything that is achieved in a wrong way , will not make you happy ...it may make you comfortable.Their life ,for others may seem to be a bed of roses, but they will be walking on thorns always.

This is not the perception and a view of a person who failed in an attemt and is jeolous of those succeeded.

Morality and and honesty whether they give you success or nor, they give you courage, happiness and you can with your head held high.

One should not leave the path of morality and honesty , just because he could not succeed.Try and try , definitely the success will be there. But is that success worth achieving or not is purely individual.

I see more often than not the successful individual who had no problem stepping on heads on the way up while people watched and commented how "you see the same people on the way up as you will on the way down" but how many ever actually 'fall from up there'? I also see broke people without morals or regards for others too but in all honesty, we each have to decide what is or is not moral and honest to ourselves and live by that by being good to each other and treating others the way we want to be treated. There's no guarantee any of us will ever get rich or become successful or even live comfortably by being a giver and not a taker but it's a whole lot easier to accept than to stress over what you don't have or to wish bad on someone who has it all. Life's too short......really!!!

well this may depend on how you define success. I personally believe success cannot be separated from right living. Just because someone has a bundle of material possessions does not mean that they are happy. Success, true success, is about abundance and wealth in every area of your life. An immoral person will never have wealth. I say this because people treat you as you treat them and also treat you as you treat your self. If you will not take the time to develop a sense of character what makes you think that someone will take the time to get to know you genuinely. You will always reap what you sow and you cannot achieve a 'good' end through 'bad' means.

I think morality has a huge role in success, I think it's the factor that decides if you enjoy it or not. Once you give up your morals or your identity for success, ou become another person who's an example of: Money Can't Buy Happiness. I think if you stick with your morals and don't put your relationship with God and others in jeopardy then when you become successful you'll really be able to experience it and have fun with it.

Morality is the antithesis to success. Most religious and philosophical perspectives require poverty.

Individuals likes Gandhi, Jesus, Mother Theresa, Buddha, were all dirt poor. Wealth is for the other half.

yes , it has profound impact , it makes a lot of difference , the one who is successful , by using wrong ways , feels guilty one day or the other , and also lacks the peace of mind , moreover the joy of success that is achieved by honesty and morality cannot be compared to anything

The answer, generally, is no. The only honesty required is to yourself. Callous disregard for others is frequently the hallmark of a successful person.

You cannot succeed and be immoral for long. they do not go hand in hand. You may get a lot of things quickly, but you will lose them even fast. Success is in building a great corporation or being respected by the society, by the family and by your co-workers.
