Kelley Blue Book says that a dealer's price for a 2001 SE coupe with auto trans and the smaller 2.2 engine is around $6030 in excellent condition. Use this to find the value of used cars.

Ask if you can get a mechanic (your own mechanic, not theirs) to inspect the car. It will cost up to $100 for an inspection. Sometimes they'll do it for free if you're a regular customer. Ask to see the service records. If they say they don't have them, I would be wary and do all the maintenance ASAP, including oil, all fluids, filters, spark plugs, etc. Negotiate on the price. Buy it under Blue Book Value if you like it and it was well-maintained and has no major problems. Check that the power locks, windows, and mirrors work.

If its a 2002 and foward and has the ecotec engine, i would say go for it, otherwise i'd be careful about the purchase. i own a 2004 pontiac sunfire. my dad bought it brand new back in 2004.now, i own it, well, i use it since i have turned 16 and now have my license. it has given no probelms what so ever. the only real probelm it has given was the battery going bad, but that was my fault. i kinda left the lights on during school and came out to find out around 2:25 that the battery was dead, im so glad that i had jumpers in the trunk that day.otherwise i have had no probelm with it and its a quick car too, just that GM had to put a low speed limit on it, 107, thats no good to me when im at drag strip with my friends and they have there mustangs and preludes.
to sum it all up, they are a great car, just make sure that it is a Ecotec Sunfire and not the other crappy engined sunfire.

I have owned 2 Pontiac's 97 grand prix and 99 Montana I put 145,000 + miles on the grand prix which I most say I ran hard the only problems I had was with the alternator from letting it sit for months at a time. but I found that problems with Pontiac's are more electric than anything they both ran very well and very dependable as with the price I wouldn't buy a sunfire for that kind of money

I bought one in January. It's a 2002 with 70,000km. I bought it for $6995 Canadian. It's not a bad car...but it has needed quite a few repairs in the 3000kms I've put on it. I put on new breaks, shocks & struts, tires and the A/C isn't working well at all. It is AWESOME on gas. It's a good car to start with because it's relatively cheap, just the repairs that get costly. I'm not sure, but I think that most of these cars (caveliers, sunfires, etc.) usually start needing repairs at about the 70,000km mark. I'm not sure what the conversion is from km to miles...

Sunfire's are great looking cars but they can be trouble
they have very bad handling for a sporty coupe and handle really bad in the snow so take it easy & the car has lots of problems after warranty,if you are looking for a hot car to just to get you around in the summer its a good car but it's not a real sports car like a Celica GT-S

What year? 67,000 is not a lot of miles, if the car is a 2000 or older. I'd have it checked by a competent mechanic and probably would go for it depending upon what the mechanic found.

Hello Hockey CHIC,
That seems to be the topic..what year, 67,000mi on the car is not to bad. With an asking price of $6700 make an offer for $6500. Without seeing the car myself and having more information it's had to go into details. I can tell you this, it should at lease 350 to 375 miles on a full tank of that OVER PRICED GAS.

A high mileage example like that should be less than 3,500 dollars. Forget about that one some old lady has one that is cheep adult driven clean and just right for you. II have to say this however why buy the cheepest Pontiac car and expect it to be anything but cheep? That car sold for only $8,900 new

it depends on the year of it ,whether or not its worth that much, they are good cars as long as you get one that's been taken good care of,if you get a hold of one that's been ran real hard and not been taken care of you could be getting a lot of problems, with that few of miles on it id say you will be getting a real good car,the only problem i have ever seen these cars really give is radiator problems other than that they seem to last real good,my daughter has one,and she seems to like it a lot,so far so good with it,if i was you id have it checked out real good before i bought it just to be sure, but it really sounds like you have found a nice one, good luck with it hope this helps.
