There is this girl (she's 16) and she is friends with my best friend (he's 18 and i'm 17)

She's liked him for the past year or so but he doesn't like her. Her parents are quite strict and don't let her do much.

Aparently she is quite depressed and she drinks a lot. She also gets herself into relationships with way older guys (like 25+) and always gets hurt. When she's upset she always comes to my best friend.

My best friend is really good at helping you through stuff and easy to talk to and he's helped me heaps.

But I know what this girls like and she just comes to him when she's upset and tries to make him feel sorry for her.

He knows this but he is so loyal and wants to help her to see what she is like. She is also bring him down a lot.

What can I do? Do I just have to wait for him to see this?
I just don't want him to get hurt.

I don't talk to the girl so I cant go to her and my best friend would be angry if I went behind his back. We live in different cities too.

The bottom line is he still likes her and is hoping that she likes him in return...

Since you are really close to him you should email him and tell him what you think. You shouldn't hold back to the point that he suffers just because you were worried about his reaction to your suggestion.

Your friend seems to be a really nice person.. but to me it looks like he doesn't realize the situation. He is simply too caring..It is possible that he is just not aware of the situation as you perceive it.

A similar thing happened to me recently.. There was this guy who used to be all friendly with me but he was just manipulating me for his own benefits. I didn't really realize that about him until another friend of mine ( he's good at reading people ) told me about the situation.

Go ahead and tell him... If he doesn't listen to you once or twice just let go.. it is meant to be an experience for him.

Your friend (male) is trying to help your female friend. He is probably a good listener( many people do not have the ability to hear and listen).Your male friend sounds very caring.Even if you believe that your female friend is "coming on to him" you should not say anything. He may think you don't trust him or his judgement.Trust is like a glass, if you break it, it is difficult to repair. You know your male friend better than us.Read your second last sentence.Only time will tell how this will work out but give your male friend the trust to do the right thing.Take care.

If you try to help him by telling him his investment in this girl is foolish then you will run the risk of looking like you are just jealous. If the guy is as smart as you say he is then he should already know that the girl just likes his attention and perhaps he still talks to her because he likes to help people and it makes him feel good. Stop trying to rain on his parade.

You should ask yourself why this really bothers you. Is it taking away from your time with him? Do you like him?

You could pray for her first, then, since your friend is trying to help her maybe you could suggest that he get her to talk to a pastor, guidance counselor, shrink etc. She sounds like someone who needs help and a few caring friends to lean on.

I don't know if there is much you can do. I'd just let him figure out what she is really like on his own. He will find out sooner or later anyway.
