I have an ATI x1650pro 512mb and i'm wondering if i'm able to add thermal solution to the gpu.

I mean the thermal solution you put on the cpu, can you use that same one on the gpu of the graphic card.

You can but be very carefull you only apply thermal paste on the GPU. If the thermal paste has contact on the board itself its toast.

Yes, but be careful in applying that thermal paste. Some of them are electrically conductive. Just apply a thin layer on top of the gpu. Do not allow it to spillover beyond the gpu. The plain silicone thermal grease is electrically non-conductive.

The ATI X1650 comes with a small fan on the graphics card. You just pop it in the AGP or PCI-Express slot. Make sure your case fan works well. Some DIY cases have a vent near the graphics card so that air is pulled in by the exhaust fan runs over the graphics card.

This card does not run as hot as some others.

"thermal solution" , do you mean a cooling system? You can replace the fan with an aftermarket one.
another option would be a liquid cooling system.
