I'd go to a community college and build up my grades to prove to a university that I can handle my schoolwork. This'll save you money anyway, and you're almost guaranteed acceptance. You'll just be taking Gen Ed classes that you need anyway, right? Afterwards, apply at another university.

I assume that 1.79 at kent state is less than a "C" average.

There would seem to be two cases:

1) your cumulative college record suggests that you are capable of doing the work but haven't yet found the motivation to succeed. In this case, you need to spend the next year proving that you're a serious person. Work is fine. Community college with HIGH grades might be fine [if you aren't a junior already]. Or a lesser quality school [I'm not familiar with your state, so can't recommend one].

2) your record suggests that kent state isn't for you. I think they already decided that this case is incorrect, and maybe they were being polite. If the best you can do hasn't been good enough (and you know if you were doing serious work or partying, etc.) then you lower your target to either community college or a lesser school.

In my own case, I wasn't thrown out. I did have a little 'chat' with the assistant dean, who told me that if I had another semester like the one I'd just completed [two "As" and three "Ds"], that I would be booted.

So I looked at what I was taking, how much I liked the subject, and how well prepared I was. Then I stopped taking two types of courses [anything to do with social analysis or understanding (I'm a geek) and/or any hard science, esp. if it required calculus] and took only things I liked thereafter.

Voila! Had a 3.8 the next semester [four As and one B] and was on my way.

I hope you are somewhat distraught tonight and that the English exhibited in your questions is much poorer than the work you normally do.

:]

The best thing for you to do is apply for community college. You won't be accepted into any college with a 1.79 gpa.

Is there a local 2 year that you could take a couple of classes at (non-matriculated) to show that you're serious about your studies and going to apply yourself?

You should probably reflect on why you have the low gpa, whatever the reason is, and be sure you truly are ready and prepared to go back and succeed.

Good luck!

I don't think you need a degree to be a fashion merchandiser anyway. College doesn't seem to be for you if you've done that poorly. You should intern at some fashion companies instead and work your way up.

Try a community college but make sure that what ever credits you earn there will transfer to Kent.

on the face of it that seems slightly harsh. the worker(s) affected might desire to verify the contract of employment in case it mentions timecards particularly. As there grow to be of course no dishonesty in touch, the disregarded worker might desire to hunt for criminal advice.
