Well it's possible that they would change but it's just as likely that if they were really soulmates they would just reconnect and work on building their future.

You maybe right to a great extent. There are cases known to me but very rare that one do feel too close to their soul mate though not married to him/her, and with their own spouse, there is a certain degree of casualness, soul mates are ones with whom one wants to share everything and feels the same way even their own spouse cannot feel or share. I will say if there is such a case, then the soul-mate couples are the luckiest in this materialistic world.
