I can give you mediocre news. It will return to normal, mostly. Unless you are carrying triplets or more, the skin will get mostly tight again (depending on the number etc of stretch marks). Most women have the slightest bump in their abdomen forever after having a baby. This can come from the separation of the abdominal muscles and sometimes from a little extra "baby fat". After you get the go ahead from your doctor (the baby will be around 2 months old) you will be able to start light exercise. You need to take it slow and work into a more stringent exercise routine. Most experts will tell you not to even start abdominal exercises until the baby in almost a year old as the muscles and ligament and tendons need time to heal and return to normal before you can recondition them. Your body is designed to have babies, drink lots of water, eat right and exercise lightly and increase gradually and you will look great.

I know this sounds weird and maybe a bit unreal but I nursed by daughter right after birth, walked twice a day with her in a snugli thing on my tummy, and I was wearing my jeans within six weeks without limiting what I ate whatsoever. My skin began to shrink up, too. Now my daughter is 15, and I still have taught skin on my tummy. Genetics? I don't know. I'm nothing special but still kind of freak out about how big my tummy was and how that skin went back to where it was originally. Take your weight off smartly by eating right and moving (and hopefully breastfeeding your baby) and that may really help your skin regain a lot of its original suppleness. Good luck!

You can work extra hard to get off the weight, and then you will have to exercise vigorously to build up the muscle underneath to tighten the skin up.
But because your skin stretched A LOT it will never look quite the same. But really, why does it have to?
You're a mother! Everything is different now, including your body. It makes sense.
I am so proud of my body when I look down at the stretch marks on my stomach. They are my "battle scars" as a mother. They are the sacrifice I made to bring three children in the world.
Don't be hard on yourself or your body. Accept this as part of motherhood.

It depends on how much it has stretched and how elastic your skin is. The only things that might help are staying very hydrated and keeping the skin moisturized - dry skin seems to be less elastic, other than that - cross your fingers and hope for the best. :)
Enjoy your baby!

with my first one I had no problem at all getting back down to my normal size. I didn't even exersice, but with my second I am having to work it off. He is 8 months old and I still have about 10 pounds to go. Keep this thought in your mind though. It took you 9 months to put on the weight give your self 9 months to get it off! Don't be too hard on yourself. Good Luck

Drink as much water as you can now and especially after, it helps the skin's elasticity, and helps to drop the water weight you carry from just being pregnant.

Hi There,
I just had my bub a few weeks ago and I didn't put on much weight with him. My tummy was flabby (and fun to play with!!) while I was in hospital for a week. I didn't do any exercises or anything and now it is firm and you can't tell I was ever pregnant.
