I couldn't find my key to my apartment. It was three in the morning, I had no emergency number, and no one with a copy of the key. I had a crowbar in my trunk, so I pryed the door open. It broke the deadbolt out of the door, and split the wood pretty bad. How should I explain this? Is this terribly bad? Also keep in mind that I haven't paid my rent yet, and have been later with my rent every month for the past few months. Suggestions?

Keep in mind that this is an apartment complex with a management office and such. Not just a one landlord private ownership kind of situation. Also I had no one to bunk with, or call...it was three in the morning, and I really needed to get into my apartment.

I know how you feel as far as being behind on your rent and having something in need of being fixed. If I were you, I'd go ahead and fix the damage. Then, after replacing the deadbolt and everything, give your landlord the spare key to it. Explain that you had to break into the apartment and why - be honest. Simply own up to the damage, let him/her know that it is already fixed and give him/her the key. Oh, and the rent. :) I don't see why there would be any problems as long as you're responsible about it.

I think for starters, you can explain it to her in a little more detail like you have done so here, and also tell her that you will pay to have the door and lock replaced, since you were the one who broke them, it should not come out of her pocket.
Secondly, while I am not sure about your financial situation, nor do I really care to know since it is your own business, you could try and budget a little better so that you can keep up with the rent on time. Instead of buying things that you wouldn't necessarily need (books, CD's et cetera), use the money on essential items only (food, bills, rent et cetera) and put some away so that you will have money if ever you need it.

Darlin you are in a lot of trouble. You just need to fess up and tell the truth and hope you come out okay. If you lie and say someone broke in you'll have to call cops and everything. But honestly you could get evicted for this. Start lookin for a new place.
Just an FYI. I have had to break into a lot apartments I've lived in. I always used the windows. You just pull off the screen (not hard to replace if you break it) and open the window. If you keep your window's locked then you can actually use anything very slim but hard (CC sometimes works) to flip the lock.

Call the police and file a report, don't forget to include the missing dvd's and the envelope you had with money sitting on the table. Tell your landlord that someone broke into your apartment and you demand that your door be fixed and that they file an insurance claim to replace your lost money immediately. If your landlord has failed to provide adequate security for you then he may have violated your tenant rights and you may be entitled to punitive damages in a small claims or landlord tenant court. Eventually you will be evicted and end up back sleeping on someones couch and your landlord will breath a sigh of relief that you're gone.

Oh, this is bad. Why didn't you call a 24-hour locksmith or stay at a friend's house? Why are you so irresponsible (late rent and losing keys)?
Maybe it's time for a wake-up call in your life!
You may be evicted. I'd come up with the rent pronto and start looking for a new place. You blew it.

You have to pay for the repairs. You can either contact the landlord and tell him what you did and reimburse him, or you can have it professionally repaired at your own expense. Most landlords won't have a problem with this, as long as you get it repaired quickly and pay all of the costs.
As to paying your rent late, get your head out of your butt and pay it on time! What part of "eviction for non-payment of rent" do you not understand?

You knew the owner replaced into coming to study your aircon. He would not have been doing that until you complained approximately it. So in actuality he replaced into coming in reaction on your request. He knocked and once you probably did no longer respond, he used his keys. it truly is thoroughly perfect as he replaced into the owner and replaced into there doing what you asked. have you ever on no account heard of a collection lock? you placed it on the door so no you may get in without breaking in. Had you had it on your door, he would not have been able to open the door greater desirable than 3 inches. They value approximately $8. i do no longer think of you have a valid criticism. Take a chill pill.

i wouldnt be surprised if your landlord chucked you out. you haven't kept up with the rent on time. own up to what you have done and offer to pay the damages, altho if your behind on your rent i dont think you could afford the damages. best start looking for somewhere else to live.

You need to pay for the needed repairs. If you continue to be late with the rent you could face late fees and eventually eviction.
