If you haven't been brainwashed by college fascists guilt ridden by your religious faith, trapped by you economic standing, pressured by your race creed or gender, tainted by your success or victimized by your own failures you are an independent.

Well I consider myself an Independent and that is because I think there is good on both sides and feel the need for checks and balances. So I am Indenpendent of one side or the other. I can say I sway more right but that is just because I can't stand the richy rich mentallity that has been the Republicans lately.

We look at issues and people independent of "party line". There is a down side on primary elections. In the case of the 92 election they cost Bush 41 a possible 19% to "swing" to Perot. That might mean we lean right more than left.

It means you make your own decisions because it's almost impossible to find a party that conforms to all of your beliefs. I'm an Independent and I'm really sick of the lies, corruption, and the corporate cronyism displayed by Bush & Co, the Clintons, Giuliani, and basically all of the front runners. They wouldn't be "front runners" if corporate money wasn't funding their campaigns and media coverage. I'd choose Ron Paul, Gravel, or Kucinich beofre I pick any of those other shameless political whores.

By registering as an Independent you don't support any party and are free to vote however you want including being able to vote for a third party. Some people do theirs as UA which means unaffiliated. This keeps them all guessing how you'll vote if you don't wish to support a particular party

It means they think for themselves, rather than accepting a label & deciding what you "should" believe based on that label.
Other than that, the only difference is you can only vote in the primaries for the party you are registered to.
I consider myself a liberal, but am a registered Republican so I can vote in the primaries (knowing a 'libertarian' isn't going to win as Prez.)
MODERATES - Vote in the primaries if you want good candidates to choose from come November '08!
