Hypothetically, if you had a yearly income of ~25,000, with no expenses or rent to pay, would you buy yourself a watch for $2,000?

If I ever take an exploding bullet to the head the first thing I would do after getting out of the hospital is buy a watch for almost 10 percent of my annual income. To see if you REALLY want it save up 40 bucks a week in a separate account and after a year you still can't live without it then do it.
You only live once. Plus, good watches last a lifetime. I wouldn't, but I'm not you. Yes, there are wiser things you could do with the money. But what's better than having something you truly love owning? Try the saving thing. Like I said if you still want it after that then treat yourself to something special. Have you got the time?

That is just crazy! Why buy a watch that expensive when that money could be the down payment on a car or the start of a down payment on a house or put into some sort of interest building account or a vacation or just rainy day money. Do you have a savings account? If not you should because with no bills what so ever you need to save it. What would you do if you lost your job and could find a new one immediately? You would be mad at your self for not being more responsible with your money. My advice to you is to see a financial counselor or speak to family. Be responsible and save your money, you will be a lot happier later on down the road.

Not in a million years, i would if i was a multi-millionare.
There is great watches for the fraction of the price.
Its only a watch, after a while you will grow tire of it and wont know what to do with it.
I paid $700 for a wrist bracelate and i only wore it about 10 times, now it just sits there.
It looked alot nicer on the shelf!
Spend your money wisely, there is a ton of things you can buy with $2000 and still have some change, why spend it on one.
Its not like it will make you any better...

If you foolish people don't think illegal aliens can and do get food stamps, section 8 and welfare. They get it the same way they get jobs with stolen, forged.fake, bought identification. The illegal way they do everything. You get this holier than tho attitude and tell this person to get a better job or insult him .When is it going to be your turn? When will you have to wonder where your next meal is coming from. You cant all have great jobs making all kinds of money or you couldn't be on YA everyday. Illegal aliens do not belong in this country. They belong in the nation they ran away from that didn't give them handouts and freebies. Most of them left a job in their home nation to enter the USA illegally. There are millions of legal American citizens that are unemployed or their income has not kept up with the high costs of everything .Gasoline, food, housing taxes all up personal income down.People that have never known poverty before are now part of it. Hell no Americans cant live 20 or more people in a small apartment or house with one bathroom. We have never had to and we will not have to do this. No illegal aliens aren't the sole cause for this but they have NO right to be here. They lower wages by working for peanuts and get things free that legal citizens cant get. I hope you get through this trying time, hopefully the economy will improve and many legal citizens can recover from this. All illegal aliens need to be sent back to their own country. They should not be Americas problem.

No, I would limit my watch purchase to $500 and then spend the rest on other things or invest or save it. That's my personal way of doing things though.

I would feel scared to lose a watch worth $2,000.

Not a chance. Expensive watches are the ultimate unnecessary trinket. A $40 watch keeps just as good time. If I had extra money I would either invest it or buy something that actually improved the quality of my life.

NO!!! Who do you need to impress? Stick the money (with annual equal contributions) in a savings account or IRA over 20, 30 or 40 years and you can pay cash for a home.

No, I would buy a watch for $30 and put the other $1,970 into a good growth stock mutual fund.

If you leave that money in the mutual fund for 30 years and never add another penny to it, the mutual fund will be worth $70,820.

I doubt that watch will be worth that in 30 years.
