definately. if it weren't for their history, they would never be predicted to be in the top ten practically every year. also, what really bugs me is they play a really easy schedule every year, except for a few tough games like michigan and usc, which they usually lose anyway. they can get into bcs bowl games easily because they sell tickets. i don't like notre dame, and this is one of the reasons why.

It's not that they are overrated, it's just that they are popular. They are not overrated in the rankings (the last couple years they have been quite good). They generally play in exciting games (remember that one against Mich St. last year), and I remember growing up as a Catholic in Chicago in the late 80's and early 90's and everybody I knew, even non Catholics loved Notre Dame. Even later on after Lou Holtz left and Notre Dame wasnt very good for a while, people loved them. That's why they are frequently on TV.

Yes, and the BCS bowl games they were selected for were proof. There is a lot to say for a team that gets to select every game they play. If USC goes undefeated for "x" amount of games but are criticized for their week schedule, (mostly based on their conference) it's not really their fault except for a few games that they were able to schedule.
While Notre Dame does win the odd tough game, they are able to pad their records with cupcake teams like. (Navy, Stanford, Army, North Carolina, etc) I would say that this cheats the fans out of a more competitive BCS match-up, but they have such a huge following that it makes a lot of people happy. In pretty much anything, money is the leading factor and any bowl game is guarenteed to bring in a lot of it whenever Notre Dame rolls into town.

Brady Quinn seems overrated to me. He couldn't be a clutch player if his life depended on it. He isn't a franchise quarterback. Anyway, yeah, occasionally I think Notre Dame is overrated. It's kind of like in basketball when you have Dwyane Wade or someone who has a lot of hype surrounding them, and the refs seem to call things their way. People think football when they hear Notre Dame so I think that may sway the rankings in Notre Dame's favor.

I do. I think it stems mostly from the incredibly large fan base they have as 1 of the only 2 Catholic schools with teams worth watching (the other being Boston College). Add in the enormous television contracts they get from NBC and you've got a topic that ESPN can't afford to not cover.

Extremely overrated! I'm so sick of them, they play a soft schedule, then usually get punished by a decent team.

I do and am glad because of it. They're on TV every weekend so that I can watch them play and are often in a major bowl every year. Also, you can't pick up a FB rag without seeing a story about ND in it, Love it!

Of course they are. Does it "frustrate" me? Not really, but it's extremely annoying.
