I bought a so called "wireless" router today, and I shelled out close to 70 bucks for it only to come home and find out that in order to go wireless I have to shell out an additionally 30 or so dollars to buy a usb notebook card thingy to get my laptop to be " wireless' on the box it says 400 feet of wireless access...more like 4 ft in fact this stupid contraption has actually given me more wires to mess with and an even bigger head ache...I called the company and complained but the guy on the phone I could barely understand, and when I could understand he was a dick face to me, I think he said I had to but a usb thingy in order for my notebook to be wireless... my point is that the company is falsly advertising, if anyone else bought a wireless g router from myessentails, tell me if this fact pissed you off too...or if you just bought a router that was supposable "wireless" and you had to buy more ****....tell me!!

I hear you but it does not take alot of common sense to figure if you have a wireless router to connect to your broadband modem that you will also need something to connect to your computer to receive those signals.

If your router only gives you 4 feet of signal then you either have a bad router or you live in a Telecommunications tower that is radiating RF like crazy.

Im more tired of the people that know nothing about computers and networking complaining about not being able to do this or that with something not designed to do this or that or crying about having to pay money for something that they want but dont want to pay for.

Buy a wireless router, buy a wireless network adapter and shutup about it already.....

Calm down! The company has does nothing wrong, you simply attempted to install wireless without understanding how it works.

The router sends out the wireless network. The wireless card lets your notebook receive the wireless network.

To hook the router up to your modem, take the ethernet cord that would usually go to your computer, and then plug it into the ethernet slot of your router.

Next, connect to the network, and you will have internet!

Good luck, and I hope this helps! Feel free to eMail me if you need more help with this!

If your laptop has an inbuilt wireless card (I don't know any being sold without now) all you have to do is configure the router (read the manual for this) then use your laptop cards wireless utility to find and connect to the router. There is nothing ambiguous about the advertising, you should pput a bit of thought into what you are doing first.

Boy he ticked you off. Many companies outsource to china and india. The other day, I called HP tech support and got a guy in india. Yes, you have to buy a USB adapter or a notebook card. They make laptops today with it built in already. It pisses me off that they are so damm expensive. I don't know tell the company to list on the box what parts should go with it.

if you had a wirless card in the first place it wouldnt be that bad. the range problem is not the routers fault, it the wirless card (get a new one)
my router covers my whole house (and the neighbors) and it was $50 and my wireless cards were $25ea and they work perfectly.

so, no it doesnt piss me off

The problem is not your "wireless" router really, because it really does provide wireless internet. The problem is your an idiot. If your notebook isn't wireless then how did you expect it to work?

If it is not working correctly return it to the store. Do not keep it until you can not return it.

NEXT TIME.

1) Read up on what you are doing before you buy anything

2) Only buy product rates five stars by a lot of people. Read every review.
