I bought mine in Sept...and it was a rough winter in eastern nebraska..to western Iowa..I have a79 mile each way drive every day...and it did great, it is fwd, but has the trction thing..
the one time I started to slip on some ice, it like corrected everything. I was very concerned because of low profile, weight etc at the beginning of winter,..now...I am thrilled I bought it,,,it did great,
I made it thru a few blizzards..and led a few cars that were scared to go,...
one on I29 someone behind us told us after getting into sioux city that they could not believe all the bigger cars going in ditches, and we never even slid..
I was driving a grandson..so was thrilled it handled so well..
clear in omaha.no jacket..get 1 hr north..hit whiteout..or never would of tried...
it will do fine..just drive like you are responsible not like your friends, when icy or snowy...do the speed or lower....take your time, dont take risks

Simple. Look at the wheels. On the inside of the wheel where snow and ice can build up. You probably have a chunk of ice that is causing one or more wheels to be out of balance. Clean them off and check it. Additionally, you may want to look at the treads to make sure they are separated. You can do this by driving a wet tire on a dry surface to see if all fo the treads are even and straight.

a fwd has more control in snow because all the weight of the engine gives you more traction but an awd would be much better for deep snow, also remember that the scion is preety low!!!

i love the scion xb, all my friends are like WTF? THAT LOOKS LIKE A BOX!!! im like hey it looks kool, ill have the license plate say HOTBOX, if you no wut i mean lol. but its awesome for snow bcuz the weight of the engine pushes down on the front wheels since it's front wheel drive. just be careful in deep snow as it'll probably damage the bumper since it's low. good luck and best regards! oh i forgot to mention the awesome gas mileage.

check your tires......you may have snow and ice built up in them (inside the rims) which will cause the vibration and shaking. That is more than likely your problem. If its vibrating when you are sitting still, then you may have a misfire problem......

it is front wheel drive...handles ok in dry and wet conditions...good luck with snow...best to have AWD car for that...maybe a subaru would be best bet...or just an overly large SUV...but then again with the SUV, you are just a death machine to all others on the road...

its front wheel drive. it handles about the same as any "normal" front wheel drive car. the only issue i've had with it was in windy weather it gets blown around the road.
