Yes!A serious disorder appearing in childhood and characterized by the child's refusal to relate to other people and severely limited use of language. The cause of autism in children is unknown, but researchers generally feel that it lies in a malfunction of the central nervous system, not in the way parents have treated them or in other aspects of their environment. The term is sometimes applied, more loosely, to adults who are extremely self-absorbed and who see things in terms of their hopes and fantasies rather than realistically.I am so sorry your child has autism.I know people whos kids have autism its really hard on them but their kids are really loving and you sound like a very nice person and I am sure your child will grow up to be wonderful person because it sounds like you love him alot.Just remember all the people @ answers are here to support you!

Probably not completely. However, I have had a child, age 4 in my classroom this year that is borderline autistic. It is a form of deficiency within the brain that does not allow proper connections or social interactions to be carried out normally. I understand that there are many different variations to autism and levels. I have also had contact with a child at church who is more severely autisic and he has learning disabilities as well as more physical appearance clues of autism. Autistic children can be very bright but only have problems with socialization and other issues such as physical space, understanding directions, processing transitional times within the classroom. My prayers and heart goes out to you and your child and wishes for the best of everything in the future. To be honest I know very little about the problem, and should know more since I do teach young children.

Yes. I believe Autism is a condition that is genetic. There is no cure for Autism but over time and as a child grows older they may get better and they can treat Autism with medication and thereapy. They have a hard time with verbal communications. They have a hard time making friends, communicating, restricted things that they are intrested in doing, fixed or preoccupied by one object. They also have repetitive behavior problems.

I never really knew about autism until I watched this show called "Real Life" on MTV and it dealt with that subject. They said that sometimes it can be really bad, and sometimes it can be not so bad, and you can adjust to life with it. It doesn't mean the person who has it is slow, it just means they have a sickness that makes it difficult to communicate with people. There was one guy on the show that they documented, and he was aspiring to be a comedian, and he was a smart guy. There was also a guy on there who had a worse case where he would have temper tantrums and ignore people and everything. It was a real eye opener because I never really knew about autism before. Well, that's what I know. Let me know if some of my information was misconstrued and I got something wrong....
