Funny... when I read your question, the term "kapok" came to mind. It's a fiber similar to the fuzz from cottonwood trees that was once used in life vests; I haven't thought of that stuff in years. Funny what you remember when the right circumstances are there, no?

Well, if you're ot and about in the woods and find some really young wild grape vines, or young tender branches, you can make a little doll. Clothe it in a dress made from the leaves of nearby plants, and give her a mane of beautiful white hair. Takes a little ingenuity to tie all that stuff with no string, but my Grandma did it lots of times. Pretty neat huh? Kids love it, esp. little girls.
