It could be a head gasket, check the oil for Grey coloring that means you might have antifreeze or water getting in the engine.

First question would be, has the engine been overheated?
If not then it sounds to me like the rings are worn to the point it is letting gas into the oil and smoking because oil is leaking past the rings into the combustion chamber.
I will presume the vehicle has a lot of miles on it. If that is the case it is terminal and I would just drive it until it quits and then be ready for a new engine.
Your other option is to take it and trade it in for a different vehicle with lower miles if you can get a decent trade in.
Sometimes the best thing is knowing when to let go of a vehicle while it still has some value.

if possible stop letting it idle for long periods of time,there might be a gasket that's gone bad that is why fuel is leaking into the oil ,email me tomorrow and i will have a answer for you.
