Of course your doctor is your best source, but I nursed two children for three years, so let me comfort you. There is no problem. You're fine. You may have triggers that aren't necessary--meaning, if you just think of your baby or are worried about him or her, your body lets down. I think that's wonderful. They have lots of special bras to help you with this.

There may also be a problem with the nursing schedule, meaning that your baby is nursing less, while you're still producing the amount of milk that you were doing before. If you've started your baby on food or a bottle, be sure to wean slowly, so that you and the baby are together, and to prevent you from making more milk than the baby is taking in.

As far as whether the liquid is fatty milk or colostrum makes no difference; the body is making what the baby needs; just be certain that the baby is getting it, isn't lethargic or sick in any way. The baby is nursing healthily, right? That's the first consideration.... Then, if the answer is Yes, don't worry, relax, and enjoy this special period of your life. It's the best!

This is kinda weird but I had this same exact question around that time in pregnancy and I asked my doctor all he said was that it was normal....mine was a whitish/ yellow.....I didn't know anyone else who had this but I did........I leaked throughout my whole pregnancy and was still able to breastfeed my baby.........so I wouldn't worry about it too much ......everyone is different ........just get some breast feeding pads there is nothing you can do about it......make sure you clean you nipples as well.........good luck and congrats!

I guess is normal every women is different. I didn't leak until after i had my daughter but the nurse told me to not play with them because that will make you go into premature labor and it will also get your milk ducts working more so then you produce milk.

Yup. It actually is very good for your nipples. If you plan to use pads be sure to never leave them soaking. Your nipples should be able to dry and stay dry. No cleaning needed just let it air dry. It is preparing your nipples for some real hard work.

Its not abnormal, so don't worry much about it. But also don't do anything to encourage it (ie, don't try pumping or anything like it ... nipple stimulation can cause uterine contractions, may lead to premature labor). But just leaking by itself, no problem.

Buy some nursing pads, they'll help keep your bras clean.

Mine did the same thing. Just don't mess with them too much. The docs will tell you not to mess with them also.
