Because we hate each other so much that we can't agree enough to come together even on issues that affect us all. Do you hate blacks, jews, fat people, rich or poor people, illegal immigrants, *******, rednecks, christians, non-christians, muslims, white people, pro-choice or pro-lifers, or anyone else who shares this country with you then you are part of the problem. Don't think for one minute that this doesn't play right into the hands of the government and the oil companies. Unity of the people does not work for our administration. Look at all the crap they have done in the last eight years and we have stood by with our thumbs up our butts doing nothing. Our children are dying in another oil laden country over a known lie (Weapons of mass destruction) and still we sit. If we will allow that, I guess we will allow anything. Break out your wallets cuz it isn't going to get any better.

I think most people just think that there is nothing they can do about it. Or, just don't have the time or motivation to fight such a huge issue as fuel prices.
The general public is content to head to the gas station, bend over and take it up the "you know what"! Just the sad truth.

I don't know. Why do people complain about the government, but only 35% of us actually vote? Most people are appathetic. It's easier to cry, *****, and whine about stuff than it is to actually do the reaserch on issues, or candidates.........and then drive all the way to the voting booths........stand in line.........and punch in your votes. The bottom line answer to your question is that most people are just plain lazy. They'll make excuses for not paying attention to the issues, and for not voting............but the majority of people are just ignorant and lazy.

Because it's so much easier to just gripe than get off their duff and do something about it, hoping someone else will cure the problem.
