I've never heard anyone say that being beaten by the North (Koreans) Vietnamese made anyone qualified to be president.
.. that is .. I've never seen anyone but YOU mention it.
Is this a classic 'straw man' ?

Does it make him qualified to be presedent? No
his qualifications are his many years as a Senator and public servant, just as most presidential candidates (public servant in one capacity or another).
Does that event in his life have bearing on his ability to be president? Yes!!
Just as any intellegent hiring officer would consider that event when evaluating him.
His actions during that time provide an insight into his character and integrity. I'm not saying you have to consider him a hero or anything, I'm just saying that you have to view his actions as having either a positive or negative impact on how you view him.
He refused to leave when given the opportunity as the only reason they would release him was due to who his father was. Was that admirable or just stupid?
He was tortured for refusing to cooperate. Was that good or bad?
You have to decide whether McCain's decisions in those situations were right or wrong, but either way they provide you with a window into how he thinks and will respond in certain situations.
That knowledge about him should most definitely be used when deciding what type of a president he would be, but not necessarily be used to determine how good a president he would be or how qualified he is.

I am constantly amazed by how little my countrymen actually know about the "outside world".
McCain was a POW in Viet Nam, not North Korea.
Does that qualify him to be president, nope.
However, by the same token, I believe that anyone who wants to be President should have served in the Military, preferrably in combat situations.
Any SANE person who has been in combat KNOWS the truth of the situation and would NOT be looking at war as a FIRST option.
Yes, sometimes war cannot be avoided and you gotta fight. better to have someone in charge who knows what its about than a bunch of chickenhawks who TALK a good fight, but never put their own asses on the line.

ok, so I even have study each and all the solutions given yet none of them provide any stable advice why they stand for what they are asserting. I agree which contain your fact commonly (basically no longer how that's placed). i think of that's astounding that John McCain went by way of all he did and then persevered to serve his united states of america by utilising going into politics. the two one among my brothers are serving precise now and that i'm rather happy with them and truly admire everyone who fights for our united states of america from the folk sitting at the back of desks making effective each and everything works the way it desires to, to the POWs. all precise, now that I even have reported all that, enable me say that the clarification i do in comparison to each this interest being paid to the POW element is that the cardboard is being performed too plenty. definite, deliver it up on your speeches each and every now and then. yet to deliver it up plenty, and to place plenty weight on this is basically riddiculous. definite, he's a hero; definite, he's amazingly brave. NO that would not make him a greater valuable candidate for president. NO that does no longer propose he will make each and everything greater valuable for united statesa./human beings. So shall we start up off paying interest to issues like rules and precisely HOW he plans on making issues greater valuable, because of the fact his journey as a POW actual isn't. basically my opinion...

He was held 40 years ago by Communist North Vietnamese and Viet Cong. Other than that, it's a fairly interesting question. The answer is No.

Does being someone who doesn't show up for muster for his Air Guard duty qualify someone to be president? Geez, at least McCain actually did his duty.
