My dwarf pleco stayed in a large rock formation for months. I thought he was dead but when I took the decoration out he fell right into my bucket. It was pretty funny. Your fish is probably out periodically at night. Mine stays hidden a lot during the day. I have removed all decorations (except plants) from my tank because they all have holes and food will build up in them and pollute your tank. My dwarf pleco rarely sucks on the glass.

Oscars don't clean the sides of the tank, those fish are call plecostomus. If anything the Oscar will eat your goldfish, not the other way around. Oscar's are cichlids and are aggressive and can grow up 10" or 12". It might be that it is getting stuck in the castle, if so you might want to put in a less restrictive decor.

This isn't a matter of the Oscar bothering him or a fish wanting to be alone. This is one of the nature's of a pleco which I am sure you have. Most people associate them with just eating algea which they will only do if there is no other food source. They eat fish food just like any other fish. My catfish are like that sometimes as well as my loaches. My asian catfish I've had for about three weeks now just decided to stop being shy in my castle and come out with the rest, though most of the time he camps out in the castle. Some fish are photo sensative meaning they are sensative to light. Others are nocturnal and come out only in the times when you are sleeping usually. A pleco doing this is not unusual and it may feel slightly threatend by your Oscar, though your Oscar I doubt would try to eat him. Oscars generally will only eat what they can fit in thier mouth and fight with a fish venturing into thier territory. I wouldn't worry about your pleco hiding.

The fish that "died" was DEFINITELY NOT AN OSCAR. If it was it would have eaten the goldfish long ago. The fish may be sick, or stressed or both (stress is a cause of sickness). Look for symptoms. Did you put in a new fish recently? they might be frightening him. Maybe its shy. It's perfectly normal. But first go and check what kind of fish it really is. If its striped black and white and looks cute and is about 2 inches and stays on the ground then it is a zebra pleco. If it has a suckermouth then it is Loricaridae... spelling may be wrong... just go research more because your fish may be suffering if you don't really know how to take care of them. Go check out planetcatfish.com or google it-PlanetCatfish or just fish. Your catfish is probably a plec or otocinclus or ancistrus(bristlenose)
Probly a plec as they are hardy

If you are keeping a cold water aquarium for your goldfish, you really shouldn't have a plecostomus(it is not an oscar), they are tropical fish. If it is a tropical tank, you shouldn't have the goldfish, they are coldwater fish... maybe you need to do some studdying because oscars look nothing like plecos...

As you have found out your Oscar isn't, however neither is it a Plecostomus, chances are what you have is a bristle-nose catfish these are noctunal fish and hide away for the greater part of the day, Plecostomus tend to be out and about all day. If he's a male eventually you will see bristles on his face, females you will see slight lumps, they tolerate a wide range of temperatures but are tropical fish.

If your patient you will see it at night grazing.

Its a Pleco I'm sure you are talking about because an Oscar would end up eating your Goldfish lol...
Plecos do like Dark areas....maybe it just "discovered" the Castle so now that is its favorite spot.

I don't knwo why he is hiding but that is not an oscar. Oscars are cychlids and agressive. He would have eaten your goldfish. It sounds like he is sick or injured. Is there anything on the sides for him to eat?
