Okay, believe me, i'm an expert on this as an ex-bitter:
I spent 6 years of my life bitting my nails...yeah, i know it's a loong time!
I decided to stop when i was 11. I did stop until I was 13. I kept my hands busy, like touching a small rubber or a little ball. I chew gum, so I could not bite. I also had a rubber band in my wrist, and I pulled it everytime I tried to bite.
Masage your nails (like 10 seconds each) for making them grow faster.
Good Luck,
--maggie--

i had a nail biting problem for the longest time. the way i would stop is put a really nice nail polish on or get a manicure. you won't want to screw up your pretty nails and therefore will not bite them. that works for me. :) If that doesn't work, try chewing on sugar free gum or wearing a rubberband around your wrist & snap it when you feel tempted. that also works. good luck. <3

I simply got acrylics put on...then my nails grew out and i got the fake nails removed and haven't bit them since, having the fake nails being so hard it kept me from biting them and it took so long fo them to grow enougth to get them removed that by that time i was out of the habit...you can also get them and keep them trimmed yourself if you really want to and jsut wait for the acrylic to grow off...but having a dremmel (the thing the use at the salon) helps in that area...i have one that i got that is made for nails at wal-greens.

Try making them pretty and spending time on them. It will deter biting. Also, try puting some nail polish that will accelerate growth because once you see beautiful nails, you won't bite them!!

Treat yourself to a manicure at a salon. It'll cost a bit of money and look pretty if you keep them nice, so you'll have some incentive not to!

how about just imagining all the nasty stuff that's growing under them? I dunno. I used to bite my nails and the only thing that made me stop was the method you don't want to use.
