But when you give it more throttle it is fine, untill you take off again. It will hesitate again. Do you know what the cause might be?

You should take it to your local chevy dealership.They are a number of things that will cause it to hesitate.They will run some test and find the problem.

I'm not sure what causes it, but its common in older GM V8's. My dad worked for GM and kept all our vehicles in tip-top condition. His '85 chevy silverado and my '78 pontiac grand-prix both did it, while the other family cars with 6 cylinders did not. It's nothing to worry about if that's why you're asking.

I'm sorry I don't know the reason why but I'm pretty sure it's a compression issue.

adjust the tps (throttle positioning sensor) you do this with a muti meter and a book that tells you how much resistance to set it to usually a repair manual will have this setting and explain how to do it ,if it keeps going out of adjustment you'll have to replace and adjust the new one

check the tps throttle position switch dirty air cleaner or fuel filter may be pluged

TPS =(throttle position sensor) is worn out.

It could be that the injectors are getting what is called drugs in them and clogging it or them. Try cleaning or replacing them. Your vehicle may have more than one.
