about counselors and therapists? I mean do only "freaky" or "nerds" go to them, or do normal people? I have bulimia and have been seeing a counselor at my school since the begining of the school year, and people stare at me when I walk out of her room. Should I not go back?

First off, cool avator! =P Anyways, NO, keep going! Using a therapist/counselor should not bring stigma and should not make you feel weird or crazy. Having bulimia is a serious condition and you should feel proud that you are brave enough to get help like you're doing. Even the most "normal" seeming people have gone to a counselor before, myself included. It's almost not-normal for a person these days to be able to handle everything themselves with no help!

I commend you for going to see a counselor for help with bulimia. Don't get discouraged. Keep seeing your counselor. You're being very adult about this by asking for help. For those that stare at you are being very childish. They need to mind their own business and learn not to judge anyone who goes to seek help. You're the better person and don't let anyone tell you any different.

Yes, normal people see counselors and therapists all the time and there is nothing wrong with that.

Best wishes to you!

All kinds of people see counselors for different reasons and you should not feel weird or nerdy or abnormal for seeing one. It takes a lot of courage to seek help and try to improve yourself and your life. Ignore the people who stare, they are showing their ignorance. If more people would seek counseling there wouldn't be so many questions on here about suicide, depression and anxiety. I have seen a counselor several times in my life and each time it has been a great help and improved my life and how I felt. Do what is best for you and forget the rest. Good luck to you.

sometimes normal peple are made against their will to go to couselors and thereapists. and sometimes those peple don't even need to go. they are just misunderstood e.g. they have parents that get freaked out when they find out certain things about their innocent little children, instead of even trying to uderstand they take themt o a coundselfor/therapists, convinced there is a problem. i am pretty sure this is going to happen to me sometime within the next five years.

as for your second question, you eally shouldn't care about what others think of this. as long as seeing the counselor is helping you, that's what really matters. just ignore those people and look at them like you're seeing right thru them. good luck.

IN MY opinion, people have to be retarded to NOT go get the help they need. Plain and simple.

Keep in mind that when you are through with school and in the REAL world, those people staring at you will mean basically NOTHING to you or you life.

Something to live by : What others think of you is none of your business nor should it be any of your concern. Live life for YOU, you only have one.

: )

Happy June !

Sometimes they can be helpful, sometimes they aren't. Normal people do go to them. Since you're bulemic, you definitely need to. Don't worry about others' staring. They don't know what you and the counselor discussed, and don't tell them! You should keep going.

If councelling is helping you, then you shouldn't stop going because ppl look stare at you. Everybody needs councelling at some point in their life, but most ppl are too afraid to admit it. Congrats on being able to admit you have a problem and trying to fix it- that makes you more courageous than all of the ppl that stare at you.
