The American population is made up in vast majority of decent, moral people. The political power structure is the problem, coupled with a cultural characteristic that makes Americans in general little interested for what goes on beyond their borders. The leadership, meanwhile, is made up of dogmatic political parties whose main aim has become to serve big business. The American political machine has been responsible for propping up dictators, conducting political assassinations, fostering poverty through often misguided sanctions, (often for purely political purposes), subverting the rule of law to favor big business, fostering wars for short-term interests, proliferating weapons, etc..., etc... There is hardly a part of the world that has remained unaffected by these kinds of activities. They have gone on under both Republican and Democrat governments.
I am not denying some good has come out of U.S action in the world. Not every action taken by successive governments have been wrong, but people who have had their lives affected will remember the wrong much more vividly than the good things done to them.

The blame America for everything because we at least try to solve the problems in the world. Federal governemnt thought that terrorism grew enough and needed to be stopped so we began to to contain terrorism.

Other countries blame us because they are jealous that we can step up to the task and are brave enough to stop terrorism.

For the most part its easy to blame Americans. We're the ones blamed for everything when if you actually look at what's going on it a failure of local leadership around the world. But to take focus off their incompetence they blame America.

Globally America is generally stuck, if we do something, the world wonders why, if we don't the world wonder why, either way everyone wonders why. for example we try to help and we're trying to expand out power, we don't help we're blamed for not doing anything about it.

Looking at you from the outside, I can say that to many other countries, Americans are loud, ignorant, opinionated, pushy, and grossly over commercial. They believe that their way is the only way, and are unable to leave people they don't understand to their own devices. They irritate, provoke, threaten and bully people who have different ideas, and above all, they fear people who are different. This is what drives them, or at least their authorities, I believe.
I have met many Americans here in Australia, most of who don't want to go home.

It comes with the title of Superpower. We are humanitarians, world travelers, Inventors, leaders, and we embody everything that others desire. We are as hated as we are loved. All eyes are upon us to do what it takes to make the world safe for them, and when we can't deliver what they want, we are criticized in a unforgiven way. It's unfortunate, but at the same time We Americans are well conditioned for their criticism.

I do not think people hate the American people so much as our government who has been up to no good for a long time, supporting dictators and ignoring genocides like Rwanda etc.

While we sit around watching TV and feeling powerless, unless we can go shopping.

I couldn't agree more. I try to live my life with tolerance. I wish everyone else could.

I travel all over the world with my job, I almost feel like apologizing when people find out I'm an American.

Because we stick our nose into other people's business, even though the founders of our country believed in isolationism?
