It is a great college. It is private. It is catholic. It is recognized around the world with billions of alumni around the planet (not just in America).

First of all, as you probably know, the University of San Diego is NOT part of the UC system, as one of the other responders suggested. It is a private, Catholic school. And it is not primarily a graduate school, but a liberal arts-based university, with a stronger focus on undergraduate programs. U.S. News and World Report lists it as #105 among national universities. That is quite good, although I'm sure you will hear from people who think that only Harvard and MIT count as acceptable colleges!

It has some very good graduate programs, but there are much better undergraduate colleges in the UC system.
