With great knowledge comes great responsibilty...Spider-Man is full of all sorts of wisdom! :]
I prefer this motto because life is about using our knowledge responsibly. To live with ignorance is not to live at all. Why would be here on earth if we weren't to learn or do anything? It would be a waste of a life.

I have found that those with great knowledge are largely ignored, except when there is a crisis, and before the crisis is even totally resolved, they are again ignored. Responsibility is over wrestled from the knowledgeable and stolen by the, let's say, less knowledgeable.
I once had a professor from England who told me (after a couple of pints of beer) that the history of the United States shows that its citizens overwhelmingly elect the less intelligent of the candidates for fear that an intelligent candidate would make drastic changes. The only exceptions were times when drastic changes were necessary, after which they went back to the less intellectual.
Therefore, I find your question overly simple and an intellectual conundrum. Were it so that life could be that blissfully simple!

I prefer great knowledge because the only responsibility the quote refers to is the responsibility to inform others of your knowledge...and what a great responsiblity that is! Ignorance is living in darkness with no opportunity to better yourself or others!

no. 1. i remember this one saying: "if ignorance was bliss, you'd be having an orgasm". no thank you. i would much rather have great knowledge and a lot of responsilibilty and not neccesarily be happy, than be ignorant and very happy. if no one had any knowlegde and no one took any reasponsilbilty for anyhting, the human race could not exist today. if teh cavemen had no knowledge of how to hunt, and took no responsiblity for their job, they would all have died out. if the cavewomen had no knowlege of how to raise their children adn took no responsibilty for them, they would have run off and died, because they were ignorant and could not have known better. the world leaders have so much responsibility because they have so much knowlege (most of them), so people voted for them to be world leaders, beccause they knew they would take responsibilty for their country.

The question seems to be whether you are a leader or a follower?
I most often choose to go my own way, if others follow, so be it. If not, no matter.
I deftly shoulder the responsibility of knowledge, while remaining blissfully ignorant of the future.
How 'bout that?
