this plastic basket device is located in the wall of the pool there is actually 2 of them. i don't know if the chlorine goes in the pump with filter or in one of those blue backets

The chlorine tablet can be placed in the skimmer basket. Check it every day. Simply add another one when the first one is nearly dissolved.

Check to see which is an inlet first, or at least determine where your inlet is. The chlorine would be best added in the skimmer/suction port which takes the water to the pump and filter then disperses it back into the pool.
For the added expense it might be worth it to have an "inline" chlorinator" added.

I am assuming you have an easy set or an intex pool with a ring that you have to blow up from your description. You will probably have to get a floating device to distribute the chlorine or you can get a D filter and use 1" tablets.

You need to get a floating container made for the tablets. If you put them in the skimmer the water flow will make them dissolve to fast.
