Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.
The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.
The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."
Here is the text of the document, On the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons (1986): http://www.newadvent.org/library/docs_df86ho.htm
With love in Christ.

As a recovering Catholic (ha ha, just joking, although I really was Catholic and no longer am) I feel I can accurately say that there are quite a few things that Catholic people are against. I'm not trying to knock anyone, but I do recall some pretty intense situations involving oh, I don't know, women's equality and things like that.

Catholics are not against homosexuals. They are against the sin of homosexuality. Catholics hate the sins, not the sinners. This is evident in the Church's teaching on homosexuality from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
2396 Among the sins gravely contrary to chastity are masturbation, fornication, pornography, and homosexual practices.
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

Same reasons the muslims are always so angry about jews. The people interpting their holy books for them, and telling them what to think, which affects how people percive others. My grandmother, told me a really kind of humorous story. Back when she was a child, having immergrated here from Europe, she and her family would attend mass often. Mass at this time was conducted in latin in her town, even though most of the people attending did not speak latin. Well, when the church actually switched to English years later, many people stopped going to church, because they started to understand what the priest was saying.
