i would love to start a career in radio broadcasting (nashville) but I have no experience.Is there any hope for me out there or do I have to have the hook up to get in?

yer best bet would be to call the local stations and check on intern hires...that will get yer foot in the door and allow you to learn the buisness from the ground up...radio is a mean business, but if you love it enuff, you'll make it...

How times have changed since 1980. Back then, I merely walked into a small town AM radio station, filled out the job application. Yes, I got the "don't call us--we'll call you" line...but I persisted....and in time, I landed a small overnight on-air gig. The day I was hired, I was required to fill out a FREE radio license application form and mail it out. Right then, I was licensed to go on-air....and I did.....landing a cozy over-night gig.

Sure, that was then and this is now....but still....what never changes here is the mere fact that PASSION for something one does merits their true reward. If you truly have a passion for broadcasting....you'll find a way in. I just pray it is the RIGHT way in.
