as good as the league that Vince McMahon started, no league has a chance to get the quality players to compete with the NFL

No - look at the XFL; it had more hype but just flopped because the talent basically sucked. All the talented college players knew they could make more money and upkeep one of the proudest American traditions by playing in the NFL.

If Cuban actually makes the league, it would only become prosperous is it offered affordable family entertainment, just like the Arena League. Over time though, people will realize its almost the same as College Football. Unless they can get some big-bucks to attract talented prospects as opposed to NFL rejects, the league will fold like a lawn chair.

I can only hope so. I think every football fan should hope for it's success as well. Without any real competition to speak of the NFL has been going downhill. They are taking the fun out of the game, and replacing it with more urgency for marketing and promotion. How else can you explain the fact that multiple rookies were told to not attend training camp in favor of marketing obligations?

I hope that this new league succeeds, and I think it'll have a better shot of it than the XFL did. They tried to employ the wrestling version of football, and people saw right through it. Mark Cuban is more capable of helping to run this than Vince McMahon was. Cuban is already to role model for what an NBA owner should be like, and I think that'll translate better in the football market than a man who built a wrestling empire, and is starting to struggle due to the same problem that the NFL has...lack of competition.

Let us all remember a man named Lamar Hunt as well, and the league that he started known as the American Football League that really gave the NFL more of a challenge than any before or since. I know I am not the only one that wants to see the return of celebrations, coaching not having to don a certain logo on the sideline, and the media to be allowed to cover their own teams without the harsh rules that are applied to them now.

So let us all hope that they succeed, and by doing so force the NFL to re-evaluate itself, and make necessary changes.

It is possible to succeed, but it will be very hard.
Many have tried and all have failed.

Cuban said that he's gonna market his league to go after players not drafted or drafted past the 3rd Rd.

I don't see why that would fail. I mean look at the Arena league. It's still around.

I mean, I love my football and I hate that it's only 16 Games plus playoffs. That is just simply not enough football for the average football fan. The season comes and goes before we all realize it.

Cuban was right, he said that Americans want to see more football. He is absolutely right.
Look at Pres. Goodell...he's trying to add a 17th game to the NFL now...which I would absolutely just love.

Some purists may not like this...they still hate that football went from 12 to 16 games. They'll probably be up at arms over another game.

McMahon's XFL failed because it turned into some sort of Soap Opera. Players pubically dating cheerleaders. Nicknames on jerseys...although "He Hate Me" was cool. LOL ...all the lockerroom antics. He tried to inject drama into a game. That's where I think he made a mistake.
Football games don't need drama added....in great games the drama and thrills come naturally.

I doubt it. I'm a Mark Cuban fan, but the past has proven there is only 1 pro football league.

very unlikely but Cuban's got good business sense. I don't know how they plan to compete with the nfl. Mabey have teams in smaller market areas wthout NFL teams, play in the summer and hope to land an ESPN 2 deal. If there was a team close to my area I'd go to games but I doubt id watch on TV or buy mech

More than likely no. The XFL, USFL and WFL all tried and failed. I'm sure there are some other leagues I'm leaving out but those are the most notable.

I say no. There is not enough top notch players for another league. nor will there be enough money for another league. Others have failed, so will Cuban.

I don't think so. My guess is that they'll have some popularity for about a year or 2, then the NFL will buy them out or they'll just go bankrupt.

My opinion, by the way :)
