their friends, family, town, everything they knew and just left to make a new life for them selves. If yes, how did things turn out?

If you do not mind, would it be possible to get an interview with people to get the whole story through e-mail with them?

My inentions are mixed. Right now I am feeling stuck in my life. Like I can do better and become better as a person. Yet I know I cannot achieve my dreams and desires if I stay connected with my current way of life. I know I must cut all ties to makes things better and build myself into a new person. This is how I feel.

Build myself from the ground up. Start with nothing and gain more later, maybe. That is the risk and it scares me. Yet I feel if I stay with what little I have now, I will remain having what little I have later.

The other reason I am asking is I have been wanting to become a writer for a long time. Instead of coming up with my own stories to publish, I want to find stories of regular people doing things what others always wanted to do. Leaving one's life behind in hopes of a new one is one of those things.

In 1993, I left teh town I grew up in my whole life at the age of 24. I left absolutely everything behind. No car, not even a spoon or a bar of soap. I sold everyhting i owned, bought a plane ticket and moved to Hawaii. It was great. I landed on the beach and had no idea what i was gonna do. I walked into a beach bar and filled an application for a job, and told the girl behind the counter that i didn't know where i was going to sleep for the night. She had wait for her till she got off work. Then she drove me 45 mins. away to where she lived with my little bit of luggage. SHe let me stay at her super nice home--gave me sheets, a blow up bed, my own bathroom, use of her mountain bike and a washer and dryer. she made me some bar-b-que, and told me i could move in to her empty bedroom and just pay when i got a job. She also said if i didn't like there, she would let me stay the night and i could keep looking for a job, she would drive me back into town the next morning. It was amazing. I ended up living there, and getting two jobs imediately: one as a school teacher and one as a cocktail waitress. I had to hitchike everywhere because they were so far apart. But all went very well for me, but i have always had good luck like that. It was one of the best times of my life!!!! Good Luck

I suppose it depends on what intentions you have when leaving. If you leave to start something new or to pursue a dream, I believe this will be a great time. If you leave thinking you are running from something, I believe you will discover over time that similar troubles will follow. Often you are running from your own demons which you mask upon family or friends. At least that was what my ex wanted to do. Things have not turned out so well, but it probably dpends more on the person and circumstnces rather than in general terms.

I've done it a few times. It's all worked out really well in the long run. Mind you I've always stayed in touch with family and friends. One town is about the same as any other, especially the smaller ones.
