Usually not. While they are about the same size and shape, color is also an important part of schooling for fishes. It has been know to happen before, but it's not common. As long as you have 3-4 or each it will be fine either way though.

I've learned that Neon tetras are mid to top dwellers in the tank while Glowlights (I have some of those) stick to the bottom.
However, I do have one Black Neon which school with the Glowlights on the bottom although I've read that the Blacks prefer the middle of the tank. He does swim up more than the others, but he sticks with the Glowlights 90% of the time.
If you see pictures of Black Neons and Glowlights, they're different colors. The Black is also a bit bigger than the others.

Now, I don't know if they naturally school together, or if they're doing it because they're the only fish in the tank right now, but that's my experience with Glowlights and Black Neons.

I'd say if you had a bunch of Neons as opposed to one or two they wouldn't school with the Glowlights because of their different preferences in where they swim in the tank.
I don't know if color differences have a lot to do with anything- it actually probably does in most cases and mine is an exception because there's only a few fish. I do know that where they like to swim affects schooling though. Bottom dwellers don't really stick with top dwellers. It's just in their nature.
I'd have to say it's almost a sure thing they won't, but my advice may not be the best as I'm new to the fish-keeping hobby. :)

No, they have to be the same type of tetra. Those types of tetras should be in a school of 5 or more.

Most fish will only school with members of their own species.

To provide tetras and other schoolers with optimal conditions I would reccomend keeping at minimum of eight to ten. They will be much happier and will exhibit much more interesting behaviors. It also increase the chance you will witness spawning behavior once the fish mature which is probably one of the biggest treats of keeping fish

No, probably not. Different species of corydoras or danios will school together, but not barbs or tetras.

Probably not, but they won't have enemity between them or anything. It's okay to put them together.

They can, but probably won't.

They are the same shape and size, but not the same color.
