With the rise of unemployment not slowing down I would bite the bullet and just work. If you enjoy what you do what does it matter if you like your boss or not.

I read somewhere that people don't quit their job - they quit their bosses and in fact they otherwise love their job.
I think that contains a lot of truth.
I'm in the same situation. My boss employs his cousin and they are both idiots. Both drink on the job (I have photos of the discarded and stored alcohol).
My boss has admitted he has difficulty reading and hates to read e-mails or anything. His cousin isn't much better.
Work habits are atrocious, tools are left scattered, no reinvestment occurs in the matter of tooling and other equipment.
A $150 small drill-press from a local hardware store took 6 months to buy because the need was so pressing and urgent - but it took 6 months to buy it. But when the boss wanted to take everyone on a paid ski trip during work hours, that happened right away.
The boss actually encouraged one of the salesmen (now has quit and moved on) to arrange to steal about $5000 worth of proprietary software so the company can use it and not pay for it.
Both boss and cousin have no interest in the operation of the company and literally would rather play sports/go boozing or do anything other than sit down and focus on their jobs.
There are so many downsides to working for a boss and worst of all, you don't get to know them until you've worked for them.
There's no escaping it. It's the curse of being a wage slave. And if you quit, you could find a job with a WORSE boss than you are currently suffering.
The only thing I can suggest?
Be extremely:
Patient
Courteous
Diligent
Don't let anyone see you as a target. Move on when you can and don't burn your bridges - you never know when a bad reference will come back to bite you in the bum!
Alternately, consider starting up your own business.

well i am going through the same thing right now. in 10 years i have had 3 bosses, this is the first one who seems to be a challenge. Do you like your job? good pay and benefirts? if yes is the answer to both, then you should stick it out, bosses come and go, good workers dont. I am a very opinionated person and i have been on sick leave since the boss started, i worked for her for 2 days. when i go back i hope to state my case and move on. dont let the person intimidate you, its not worth the stress. good luck

It's really a question who's going to last longer: you or your boss!
I mean, for all you know your boss is working on transferring somewhere else or up for a promotion.
If you like your job, it's probably better to stick with it. Because if you like it then you're probably also pretty good at it. You can use that to you advantage and try for a promotion or a transfer with new responsibilities. People do that all the time. And whatever you do: DO NOT burn your bridges! It'll come back to haunt you.
Good luck!

,If you like your Job then hating your boss must not be that big of an issue otherwise you would hate your job also. So why quit if the money is good and you don't have that much contact then I would stay otherwise quit if you have another job to fall back on.

No you should not quit, play the mental game of "hard working, courteous, and likable and roll with the punches. Don't hate your boss, just be neutral. I know it is hard, but you can do it. It is fun to learn strategy on dealing with different kind of people. Good Luck and God Bless you.

I am in that same position. I love everything about my job, butmy manager treats me like crap! She a real *****....I'm looking around for another place to work, I dont see why I should put up with her anymore. I thought at first that I could get past it, but lately I've been seeing I can't. And its causing me to start to dislike my job, cause I know that I have to see her, and deal with her too.
Before you just leave, see if its something that you can bring to their attention, cause maybe they dont realize what they are doing, you know? If after you talk with them, and if its affecting your happiness, go somewhere else. Thats what I am doing!
Good luck!

Loook around for another job, and if one comes up, resign with a smile. Otherwise keep working there, but do't give him one chance to fault your work.

Be the better person and don't let anyone drive you to quit your job. Can you afford to just quit, if so then more power to you and move on but its hard to find good jobs these days so if you can stick out it please do so, don't let anyone drive you to loose your lively-hood.
