And for those of who continue to parrot " we are fighting them in Iraq so we won't need to fight them here " , this is NOT a statement of fact; its a pollitical position.

I am astonished at how many people still think invading Iraq was such a good idea. Oh and yes I CAN pronoune this bogus war a disaster.
I remain unclear on why we had to invade in the first place. In a perfect world, Wolfowitz and others would be stood up against a wall.

Scott B: I don't think so. By the responses' we are close to 50/50 on the consensus. No I am not alone and neither are you evidently.

Carolinanti: On the face of it, this IS Bush's war.
Its the GOPs war too for that matter. It will always be Bush's war. I call a spade a spade when I see one. There was NO justification for invading and occupying Iraq, unless they happened to be weakly defended and had too much oil. Some one is making a lot of money on this racket.

Yes, the Bush invasion of Iraq is probably the greatest foreign policy decision in American history! Not only was the war sold to America with lies and half-truths, but it was bungled from the start. They did not send in nearly enough troops to secure the country and they had no plan as to how to rebuild Iraq. Those who were put in charge of governing Iraq were chosen by their loyalty to Bush and the Republican party, not by their competence, as the current attorney general was chosen.

Only president Johnson's decision to go to war with North Vietnam is close to Bush's debacle! I still find it hard to believe that there are people who believe that Bush is doing a good job! They are the true believers that Bush insulted when he stated that it is unAmerican to oppose the Senate amnesty bill and he implied that only bigots oppose it.

You can fool some of the people all of the time.

What about Vietnam? I don't know how you could legitimately argue that Iraq is worse than Vietnam. 60,000 Americans dead. What about the neutrality and appeasment before the US entered WW2? We could have helped out the British, and French, and Polish, and Russians, etc instead of waiting until Hitler had taken over most of Europe. I think war is an ugly thing, but waiting as long as we did to enter WW2 could have cost tens of millions of lives. So, to answer your question- Not by a long shot. Iraq is bad, but not even close to the "greatest foreign policy disaster in American history".

You and all of the lefties like you ignore facts and continue to rail about your own political positions. You vomit out the same stupid questions over and over. Your majority in Both houses has proved to be wasted. Why? Because There is not an intelligent Idea to be had by anyone who is in or supports the Liberal left. This isn't Bush's war. Islamists have been attacking Americans for decades. President Bush just had this all fall in his lap. If slick Willy had done anything at all about the growing problem We could have stopped the problem much sooner.

Yes, Bush will go down in history as the president at risked the treasure and life and limb of the American people for a unnecessary war of choice, then failed to fund or plan for the aftermath. He will also go in history as the president that sold this country out for cheap labor, that will change the fabric of the country forever. So he sold us out both abroad and domestically.

So sorry but YOU are not in a position to be making judgements like you just did, that is for historians to decide when this war is finished. Don't be so quick to say there won't be terrorist attacks on our soil again, either!

I would say Bush's war policy is a moot point as the decision is made and we are there. Whether or not it is a blunder or not won't be visible for at least another decade. As for what will happen if we loose sight of his plan and pull out now, that will be seen right away as a blunder because of the turmoil that will immediately follow.

We will only know in time when we can look back and see the full effect that this war will have......but it doesn't look good.
