For me the fact that my kids will be around and we can just play and hang together. They are 6 and 4. So they still like doing stuff with us.

NO SCHOOL!!! I can do all the things I want to do such as go to the movies, go outside enjoy nice weathers, sleep, when I feel up to it I would definitely volunteer (I had fun with this last summer) and on occassion look over some school work stuff (though that I find to be rare) ;)

The best part of summer for me is knowing that family and friends have more time, it's their break and vacation, so they have more time to spend chatting with me, talking with me, or visiting me...whichever is easier for each of them to do.
